Access Alaska Executive Director Job Announcement

 

Access Alaska is seeking an Executive Director to lead the agency as it redefines the agency’s mission, operations, and fiscal challenges.  Access Alaska is a consumer directed Center for Independent Living based in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai, MatSu, and rural Alaska that serves over 500 consumers.  Our mission is to encourage and assist individuals experiencing disabilities and elders to live independently in the community of their choice.

The Executive Director works with a volunteer Board of Directors and with a staff of 45 located across the state.  This position directs all administrative, grant, fiscal, program, public relations, and human resource activities within organization.  The Executive Director supports both the mission and vision along with partnering with the board to determine and execute strategic plans and goals.  The ideal candidate will manage the budget and oversee all financial reporting; will implement and adhere to organizational policies and procedures for state, federal, and local government regulation. Will serve as the organization’s spokesperson and liaison with the communities it serves.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or 7 or more years in a leadership role in personal care or independent living programs and have life experiences related to disabilities, both evident and not evident.  Knowledge of rural Alaska communities and an awareness of Alaska Native culture is preferred.

The candidate will have a strong background and knowledge of program development and management.  Also requires extensive budget development, and fiscal management experience, as well as an understanding of change management and collaborative decision making. The position requires a Federal and State of Alaska background check.

The ideal candidate will be a leader who works with the staff and the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and adjust operations as needed to meet the mission and the fiscal challenges being experienced by Access Alaska.
