Traumatic & Acquired Brain Injury Resource Facilitation, Peer Support, and Supplemental Services

TABI Resource Facilitation at Access Alaska includes providing information and resources while working alongside the individual receiving services. Access Alaska provides navigation assistance with disability services such as housing, employment, benefits, legal rights, and transportation to assist those who have experienced a traumatic or acquired brain injury with achieving their goals and increasing their overall independence. Trained Access Alaska staff model and teach independent living skills, and support individuals living with brain injury to utilize a comprehensive array of services including medical, rehabilitative, social, educational, vocational, in-home, and other needed services to improve quality of life and maintain independence.

Access Alaska also offers peer support groups for people who have experienced head injuries. These support groups are also open to parents, families, and caregivers. TABI Peer Support involves individuals with a brain injury receiving support from peers with lived experience with a brain injury or a family member of an individual with a brain injury.

Access Alaska also provides Supplemental Services which is provided in the form of mini grants. The Supplemental Services are intended to respond to the needs of individuals with a brain injury to access services, supports, or items not covered by Medicaid or other funding sources; needs include medical, dental, behavioral health, housing, transportation, adaptive equipment, and other items and supports to assist the individual with improving quality of life and maintaining independence.
